Frequently Asked Questions
DOES EAR PIERCING HURT?
No. Our Studex ear piercing systems have been carefully designed to pierce ears virtually pain free. When performed properly, most people feel little or no discomfort
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE AN EAR PIERCING TO HEAL?
A minimum of 6 weeks for pierced ear lobes and 12 weeks for ear cartilage piercings or 3 weeks for ear lobes and 8 weeks for cartilage with the new improved Advanced Aftercare Cleanser. You should only switch into new earrings after the suggested healing period.
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP MY EARS HEAL?
Clean the piercing area(s) with Studex After Piercing Lotion or the new Advance Aftercare Cleanser which can half the healing time (3 weeks for ear lobe and 8 weeks for cartilage) More frequent cleaning is necessary after excessive physical activity or swimming. Avoid touching the piercing area(s) whenever possible.
IS IT SAFE TO PIERCE INFANTS AND CHILDREN?
Yes! All Studex ear piercing systems are safe for ears of any age. However, we recommend that parents wait until 6 months old.
ARE THE EARINGS HYPOALLERGENIC?
Since some people are allergic to nickel, the EU nickel directive regulates how much nickel may be released onto the skin per week. All Studex studs and earrings fall well below this allowable value and are thus nickel-safe and allergy free. In fact, all Studex studs and hoops are hypoallergenic, nickel-safe, lead-, cadmium- and cobalt-free.
ARE STUDEX EAR PIERCING SYSTEMS SAFE?
Yes! All Studex ear piercing studs and hoops are packaged and sterilized to meet or exceed U.S. FDA standards and EC European regulations.
